**The main station of Amsterdam is located in this beautiful building. **

Amsterdam Central Station is the main station of Amsterdam. It was opened in 1889 and beautifully designed by Pierre Cuypers, the same architect who designed the Rijksmuseum, which you can tell by the design, as the two buildings look very much alike.

From the outside the building is very impressive. It has two towers, both with a clock and many details. From the inside, in the mainhall, you can barely tell that the building dates back to the 19th century, as it looks very modern. But some parts remain authentic. For instance the Starbucks that is located on the first floor in the front of the station and the restaurant Eerste Klas (First Class). Visit both locations to view the beautiful, majestic, old interior. The station even still has an old royal waiting room, which you can visit with a guide or view from behind the glass.

There are a lot of stores and places to eat in the two halls from which you can take the train, but a level lower you will find the IJpassage, where there are more shops. Sometimes they even throw parties here.
