This museum dedicated to Hendrik Chabot is located in a monumental villa.

Dedicated to the Dutch painter and sculptor Hendrik Chabot, the Chabot Museum for international expressionism, in Rotterdam is housed in a monumental villa in the Museumpark. This monumental building was designed by the well-known Dutch architect G.W. Boss, in 1938. After your visit to the Chabot Museum, you will probably recognise some of his works in the streets of Rotterdam. The villa has been a national monument since 2000.

Hendrik Chabot is seen as one of the most important representatives of expressionism in the Netherlands. His most famous work is probably The Fire of Rotterdam. With changing exhibitions, the museum paints a picture of the variety of art of Chabot. His extensive oeuvre of paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphics shows great similarities in style with that of the Dutch expressionists, such as Charley Toorop and Kruyder.
