**Enjoy food from different Asian cuisines in Chinatown. **

Close to Amsterdam Central Station you will find Amsterdam’s Chinatown. Here there are many Asian markets, restaurants and shops that have been standing in the same spot for generations. Though the area is called ‘Chinatown’ and their street names are written in Chinese, there are businesses from many other different Asian cultures, such as Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Malaysian. Over the years, new immigrants have formed a pan-Asian community that started in this part of the Netherlands, before spreading out to other cities.

Every year, the festive Chinese New Year is celebrated in Chinatown with a dragon dance, a lion dance and fireworks. People from all different backgrounds and heritage gather to these narrow cobblestone streets that make up Amsterdam's Chinatown for the celebration. The dances are performed by the local Kung Fu clubs.

Something that will definitely catch your eye in Chinatown is the Buddhist temple, known as Fo Guang Shan He Hua, also called the He Hua Temple. It is the largest Chinese-style Buddhist temple in Europe and you can visit it every day (except on Mondays).
