**Here you will find a coffee shop in a very special setting. **

Most people that have visited the Netherlands know that the Dutch don’t call places where you drink coffee a ‘coffee shop’ like the rest of the world. When you are talking about a coffee shop in the Netherlands, you are talking about an establishment where you can buy or smoke cannabis, legally.

Especially in Amsterdam, you will find one on almost every corner of the street, but on the Wittevrouwensingel, one of Utrecht’s canals, there is one that you might not have come across yet: a coffee shop on a boat. The boat dates back to 1905, but the shop itself has been situated in it since 1986.

With its intimate second-living room atmosphere and the view on the old prison and canal, this is a must-visit if you want to experience a Dutch coffee shop while visiting Utrecht.
