**This long-wide street is the entrance to the city centre of Amsterdam. **
The Damrak is for many the first street they see in Amsterdam. It is the street that connects the central station to Dam square, and so this is where many enter the city.
Although Damrak is usually avoided by locals because it is so busy because of its location and all the souvenir shops, it is nice if you look around from a postcard point of view. On the left side, you will see the water which reflects the typical Amsterdam houses that stand along it.
You will find the Beurs van Berlage (the old stock exchange), and the Bijenkorf, a department store that has the most wonderful and creative display windows (especially in winter-time!).
