If you want to find good dining and entertainment all under the same roof, you’ve got to check out De Hallen--the tram building modified to be one of Amsterdam’s favorite cultural hotspots.

  • De Hallen holds a library, a local goods weekend market, a boutique hotel, independent creative outlets, and weekly afternoon events for kids. You can really do it all at De Hallen! Aside from all the cool events, De Hallen is an interesting space to visit considering its history.
  • From tram building to cultural hot spot of the West: The big group of buildings were originally created as a depot for electrical trams. After closing and being left to ruin, a group of investors and creatives came together to give the space a new, sustainable, and high-quality function to serve the community. Since it opened in 2015, De Hallen has become a thriving center for food, fashion, art, culture, crafts, and catering.
  • Dinner and a movie? De Hallen offers the perfect date night all in one place: there are over 20 food stand options to choose from in the Canary Kitchen area. Pair it with Filmhallen: a cozy cinema with nine theaters offering a wide variety of films for everyone to enjoy.

So nice, I had to go back twice! I’ve been to De Hallen on two separate trips to Amsterdam. I love the aesthetic of the great buildings, and the food is always amazing! I most recently tried the Tofu Vietnamese bowl from Vietview and it was to die for! But maybe not, because then I couldn’t go back a third time..
