It’s not exactly the Hogwarts Express - but this place will leave you with the same magical feeling!
Since 1975, the Electric Tram Museum Amsterdam is a whole museum dedicated to the yesteryear of Amsterdam’s tramway. It’s not any secret to locals that the beloved tram system around Amsterdam is the next best public transport besides our own bicycles and the underground metro.
But long before the metro was fleshed out underground, the tram system has been here for over 100 years in Amsterdam. Connect with the heritage of Amsterdam’s trams - where the pace of travel was just a tad gentler, where there were no such things as traffic jams because you were on your own dedicated rail line. This museum restores vintage electric trams that dates back to the early 20th century, collecting various trains from around the country (including Utrecht, Groningen, Den Haag and Rotterdam).
Fancy a ride? Each Sunday, you can take a genuine ride on a working tram through Amsterdam with the Electric Tram Museum (in-season). On line 20 starting at Artis Zoo experience riding the real thing!
