**Go on a journey of discovery through 2,000 years of accumulated wisdom. **

Located in a historic canal house that was built in 1622, The Embassy of the Free Mind is a museum that offers a journey of discovery through a hidden, inspiring tradition of free thinking that is over 2000 years old! The books and pictures in their collection are mainly written and created by people who did not let the church or the authorities tell them what to think. They themselves went in search of answers to questions such as: where do we come from? How did everything come about? Why are we here? What does it mean to be human? They started from the idea that everything in the universe is connected.

The collection showcases books and images on Hermetic philosophy, alchemy, Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, Kabbalah, mysticism, magic, astrology, tarot, Sufism, Taoism, and more. Learn about differrent ways of thinking and philosophers and freethinkers who have played a role in Amsterdam, such as Spinoza, Coornhert, Adriaan Koerbagh and Jan Amos Comenius.
