Now while most locals don’t often find themselves hanging in the centre of Amsterdam - the city’s Chinatown is a robust exception.

Right by the infamous Red Light District and the lively Nieuwmarkt square, Amsterdam’s Chinatown is the oldest Chinese neighbourhood on the continent (since 1900) as well as a majestic temple.

On top of that, the He Hua Temple is the largest Chinese Mahayana Buddhist monastery in Europe. The building has a striking bright facade, with traditional Chinese arches and characters adorning the temple’s gate. While you're here, you should definitely explore Chinatown itself, from other colourful architecture that reflects the heritage to the area that's now a mosaic of Asian heritage ranging from Thai to Indonesian in one neighbourhood.
