This museum has a great collection of art and history.

A branch of Russia’s Hermitage is located in Amsterdam. With an area of almost 13.000 square metres, they house two permanent exhibitions, of which one presents the relation between the Netherlands and Russia, and the other one the history of the building the museum is located in (the Amstelhof).

Though there was a good collaboration between Amsterdam and St. Petersburg, Amsterdam decided to cut ties with Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine. This means some Russian parts of the museum are closed.

The building of the Amstelhof is located on a stunning spot in Amsterdam, overlooking the river the Amstel. It was built in 1682 and used to be a retirement home. You enter the museum through the beautiful courtyard garden and at the front of the building you will find the Church Hall, with views over the river.

Pair your museum visit with the beautiful courtyard where the Hermitage Market sells artisanal food and yummy baked goods from Amsterdam locals.
