For everyone interested in architecture, this museum is a must.

Amsterdamse School (Amsterdam School) is a style of architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. The style is characterized by modern elements, brick constructions, round corners, art glass and ladder windows. It was created out of a social idea, where people wanted to focus in society back on people, instead of on the rapidly commercialized and industrialized.

Het Schip (Dutch for ‘the ship’) is a museum dedicated to this style. It is located in Amsterdam West, in three housing complexes that were designed by Michel de Klerk. In this museum, of which the building itself is built in Amsterdamse School, the social, political and artistic context of this style is demonstrated. The museum organizes tours of 45 minutes, everyday (except on Monday) and is included in the ticket price.
