Visit this picturesque and historic harbour in Rotterdam. Soak in the history, architecture and stop for a drink or bite to eat.

  • In this photogenic inner-city yacht harbour you’ll find many of Rotterdam’s most historic buildings and plenty of old-looking ships. Seriously, this is one of the best photo spots in the city. Delfshaven was one of few parts of the city that survived bombardments in 1940. Lucky! Especially since Delfshaven’s harbour has seen some really important moments of the Netherlands’ history. Don’t miss this historic place on your travels.
  • Delfshaven was the place that the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America. Don’t miss the beautiful Pilgrim Fathers Church as you wander the streets. It was here that in 1620 the pilgrims met before they set off on their Atlantic crossing. You’ll also see a replica of an 18th century warship, De Delft, in the harbour and a rebuilt 18th century windmill. Another claim to fame is that Delfshaven was the birthplace of Piet Hein, the famous Dutch maritime hero.
  • Delfshaven is a lovely location to browse some local antique shops and stop for a coffee. There are also loads of great restaurants and bars in and around the harbour. Beer lovers, take note. At brewery De Pilgrim you can try authentic Dutch beer.
