You want to know more about Jewish history in the Netherlands? This museum will surely meet your expectations.
This museum, in the heart of Amsterdam, is dedicated to Jewish history, culture and religion and hear us out: it’s actually the only museum in the Netherlands dedicated to Jewish history.
It was first opened in 1932 in the former building of the Wighing House and after the war it was moved to a new location. It’s located in a group of four historical Ashkenazi synagogues, which once was the heart of the Jewish district in Amsterdam.
It’s a true gem in Amsterdam with more than 11.000 objects, divided into permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibition is dedicated to the role of religion and tradition, the persecution of Jews during WWII, personal stories and, last but not least, the way Jewish and Dutch culture intertwine and influence each other.
We suggest you book the tickets in advance online to avoid queues at the entrance!
