**Feel the sand between your toes at Lemsterstrand. Dive into the waters as you swim or windsurf in the Ijsselmeer. **

Lemmer Beach, or Lemsterstrand to the locals, rests on the sandy shores of the lake Ijsselmeer. On sunny days, Lemsterstrand is the place to be in Lemmer for summer fun. Play some beach volleyball or swim across the Ijsselmeer. Lemmer Beach is just a quick walk or drive away from Lemmer, making it one of those activities perfect for a family day out or a group get-together.

Don’t forget about the low season! The low season takes place from 1 October to 1 May. Even outside of summer, Lemmer Beach still has plenty of things to do. Lemsterstrand is dog friendly in the low season! Bring along your dog for a walk on the beach or bring the squad for some beach volleyball.

  • Want to windsurf? Lemmer Beach is just what you need. Catch the wind in your sails during the low season from 1 October to 1 May.
  • It’s a smallish beach at around 3.5 hectares. Known mostly to the locals, you won’t find massive crowds like you do at some other beaches. Unless you visit during a festival or some days in summer.
  • Visit at the end of August to party on the beach. Enjoy a BBQ at the Glemmer Beach festival as local and international musicians fill the beach with music. The festival also has a kid friendly day for families.
