Hark back to Zeeland’s maritime past and see Middelburg from the water. This 45 minute round trip tour run by Rondvaart Middelburg will give you a unique view of the city as you sail along the pretty canals. You’ll get a view of some of Middelburg’s most beautiful and historic sights as you pass the huge, octagonal Lange Jan tower, the Dutch East India Company Building (VOC), the Oostkerk and the Kloveniersdoelen.
Along the way, the friendly captain will tell you all about Middelburg’s history and the monuments you see as you relax on the leisurely cruise. The city actually has 1200 monuments to spot, you’ll certainly be covering a few during your time on Middelburg’s waterways.
Canoe and SUP Hire
If you fancy something a bit more active, you can also rent canoes and paddleboards at Rondvaart Middelburg. Canoes can fit 3 people max and cost 17.50€ for 1.5 hours, plus an extra 5€ for each additional half-hour. SUP Board costs 15.00€ for 1 hour and also has a 5€ charge for additional half-hours. Tips and Tricks
- The canal cruise tour is offered in Dutch, English, German and French on request.
- Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time so your boat can set off smoothly.
- The cruise boats leave about every 30 mins. If you have to wait for your tour, you can chill out on the waterfront terrace in front of the kiosk.
