All little travellers can explore Miffy’s world in Utrecht, in her own museum.
Everyone knows Miffy, the white little rabbit cartoon that appears on television, in children's books and on toys. But did you know that Miffy is a Dutchie? In fact, she was born in Utrecht and her Dutch name is Nijntje (pronounced as Nine-tjeh). In 1955, Dick Bruna created her, after telling his one-year-old son stories about a little white bunny that they saw in the dunes in Egmond aan Zee.
You can explore a part of her world in Utrecht, at the Miffy Museum. At the museum there are 10 different rooms, each dedicated to a different subject, for example Miffy’s house, going to the doctor, or ‘the zoo’, where the little ones can play with Miffy’s animal friends, play games and explore.
Do keep in mind that even though it is called Miffy Museum, it is more of a playground, so don’t expect too much information or history about the little white character. Currently the museum is renovating, because they are expanding with more theme rooms, a theatre experience and a café.
