In this building is where the Summer Olympics in 1928 were held.
The now historical Olympic Stadium was built for the Summer Olympics that were held in Amsterdam in 1928.
It was designed by Jan Wil, in the architectural style Amsterdamse School which has a few notable buildings in the same style dotted all over the city. The stadium has a capacity of 64.000 and is now mainly used for athletics, other sports and events such as festivals and concerts.
What most Amsterdammers don't know, but is very much loved by the locals in this particular neighbourhood - just behind the Olympic Stadium is a park and docks that makes for an awesome hang-out place and picnic spot.
If you are interested in getting to know more about the stadium, you can do a tour of an hour for €12,50 per person.
