**Welcome to the centre of Enschede. Full of shops, cafes, restaurants, and more! Oude Markt is the place to be for events in the city. **
The Oude Markt is a must-visit for shopaholics. Walk around in the day and you’ll find coffee shops, high street shops, bars, theatres, and more. While you’re walking around, check out the fire monument in front of the Grote Kerk. The monument remembers the city fire of 1862.
Drop by and you’re sure to see the Grote Kerk. Make sure you check out the north wall! It dates all the way back to 1200 and is the oldest part of the church. You probably don’t need to spend much time at the church - the best of the Oude Markt are the things around it. Also close by is Catholic St. Jacobuskerk, expect a bit of architectural variety here, it’s worth a look if you’re into that sort of thing.
Don’t miss all the** events at the Oude Markt**. This place is the cultural centre of the city. There’s always something happening, especially in the summer. Enschede is home to the music event Grolsch Summer Sounds, plus many more. One of the most unique events to see here is the Batavierenrace, the biggest student relay race in Europe!
