Situated in Utrecht Science Park is the longest rainbow bike path in the world.

On Coming Out Day (11 October 2021), the rainbow bike path was opened. Located in Utrecht Science Park (the university campus), the bike path stands for equality, safety and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community.

Thanks to student Elias van Mourik, Utrecht Science Park now has the longest rainbow bike path in the world, with a length of 570 metres!

For the university, it is important that every student, lecturer or other employee feels at home and can be him or herself. This safety and representation echo to the wider Utrecht city community as well. Anyone - student or not, can come and bike through on the rainbow road!

With this initiative, the university wants to show that everyone is welcome and that they will work for a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable.
