So far, the only Roman fort to be found in Gelderland. Come and see the ruins for yourself!

  • This little piece of history holds archeological secrets buried as early as 15 AD! Though little remains of the original Roman Fort Meinerswijk, you can still see a recreation of the ruins.
  • There’s an intact inscription that reads “LEGIMPF”, basically an acronym in Latin for Minerva, the virtuous and faithful. It’s believed to be dated back from 220 AD and was probably carved by one of the Roman soldiers.
  • Most come here to take a peek at the ruins while on a hike or cycling trip. The surrounding area is quite pretty with plenty of wildlife. The ruins are right next door to the nature reserve and park Uiterwaardenpark Meinerswijk Arnhem.
