Have you ever been in two places at once? What about 7? The Zevenlandenhuizen is a hidden gem of a street.
Aren’t they pretty? In 1894, an architect named Tjeerd Kuipers created a row of seven houses. The building designs held no resemblance to anything Dutch. In fact, each of the seven houses in the row are meant to represent the variation in architectural designs in different European countries.
What seven nations made the cut? You can see the different styles that inspired the houses of France, Spain, Italy, England, Russia, Germany, and of course the Netherlands. Don’t worry if you’re not an architect nerd--the country names are listed above the doors so you can easily point out the different countries.
Want to stay in one of the 7? Although the remaining houses only offer views from the outside, the English inspired building is actually a hotel, so you can get the full experience. It’s located right in the picturesque Vondelpark, perfect location for a stay in Amsterdam!
