The Textile Museum

• Welcome to the Netherland’s museum of everything textile! You’ll already be impressed by the building alone - a restored factory with a brilliant all-glass entrance. But if you think that’s beautiful, wait until you see the inside! The museum puts on various exhibitions all about the making of textiles. Past exhibits include animal prints, Art Nouveau in linen, and even fashion from the Eurovision singing competition! They’ve also got a Wool Blanket Factory, Damask Weaving and Laundry, and a Textile Shop where you can buy specially crafted souvenirs.
• The museum is typically self-guided and has audio tour assistance, but you can book a guided tour for an additional cost. A tour will provide you with even more in depth info on the past, present, and future of design and techniques in the industry. You can email for more guided tour info and prices. Textile Kids: If you have any little designers or fashionistas, bring them along to the Textile Museum! They can take part in ongoing children activities like creative workshops, take home knitting assignments, or interactive booklets to fill in as they walk through the exhibits.
• The textielLab is a modern factory inside the museum where professionals and students operate on machines everyday to make new and innovative textile designs. You’re able to walk through on a guided tour and witness the production in real time! Feeling inspired? Head over to the museum’s library - did we mention it’s the biggest in all of the Netherlands? Check out over 20,000 books on art, design, and obviously textiles! Make sure to stop by the coffee shop for a quick break, or head up to the top floor for a nice view over Tilburg!
