**Visit the oldest park in the Netherlands. Wander past the ponds and trees for fresh air in the city of Enschede. **

  • The park is about 15 hectares, so there’s plenty to see. The ponds are the main highlight, especially the fountain in the biggest pond. Take some time to enjoy the scenery as you wander the park! Most locals come here for a picnic. There’s also a kids playground next to the aviary.
  • It’s not your regular city park. Volkspark is full of life, not just people! Wild animals, including rabbits, have a home here amongst its trees, grassy fields, and 19th century buildings. Fun fact! Volkspark is actually the oldest park in the Netherlands and dates back to 1872.
  • Local events! What better way to get up close to the local culture? The Volkspark is the place to be for firework shows, Mout Bier Festival, the Halloween fair, Christmas events, circuses, and more.
