- Terra Maris: If you’re interested in Zeeland’s nature and landscape or want to entertain the kids, pop over to the Terra Maris museum found in the castle’s old conservatory.
- A Not So Royal History: Westhove Castle has an interesting history. It was never originally owned or used by royalty, despite being a castle. Its recorded history goes back to 1277 when it belonged to Middelburg Abbey and was used by the abbot. In 1559, Middelburg became a bishop’s city and Westhove was owned by the bishop. The castle was then occupied by soldiers during the Siege of Middelburg in 1572 and that ended its religious ownership. After that, it has been owned by various nobles and fatcat types up until the 21st century.
- Hostel Stay: This will definitely be one of the grandest hostels you’ve ever stayed in. StayOkay Domburg now runs the castle. If you fancy an atmospheric overnight stay visit their website to book.
