The cinema in Torun has continued for over 80 years! Next to the District Museum and the Municipal Theater was one of the oldest cultural institutions in Toruń.
In the 1930s the cinema was called LIRA. In 1936 they were renamed AS. At this time in the repertoire of the cinema began to appear great hits of the Polish pre-war cinema, such as: "Antek Policmajster" with Adolf Dymsza or the legendary "Znachor".
After the Second World War cinema changed its name again. ASA replaced the ORAL. In the 50s, ORZEŁ hosted such events as: film festival dedicated to the Polish Workers' Party. In the 70s-80s. The ORZEŁ cinema was the most important and popular screen of Toruń.
Cinema closed for economic reasons July 27, 2008. The final screening was a prod. New Zealand pt. "Shark vs. Eagle".
