A Minhota

A Minhota is an historic, cosy cafe with a tradition of familiarity, of refuge for the community. Opening in 1927, dedicated to the commerce of milk and butter, it reflects one of the many faces of the XXth century Lisboa, comsmopolitan but also rural, home of the burgeoise and also the field workers. You can still find traces of its old business, like the images of cows and the milk tank at the back, and its facade greets you with a mosaic showing the rural countryside of Lisboa in older days. To this day, A Minhota preserves the traditional look and the atmosphere of a local store as opposed to the big international brands of the Avenida da Liberdade. It is a place where people from the neighbourhood meet to share their everyday stories round a table.
