Alcântara

Alcântara is the area of Lisboa that connects the lively Santos to the historic Belém neighbourhoods, with the green Monsanto up north. Its name comes from the arabic word for 'bridge', and this is where the 25 de Abril bridge meets lang. An increasingly popular place over the recent years, Alcântara is a neighbourhood of warehouses, beautiful residential areas and creative hubs. By the bridge, the residentical area of Alto de Santo Amaro provides great sights and strolls. An industrial site has been renovated as Lx Factory and now offers a trendy complex where culture, art, gastronomy, shopping and creative production meet. The Santo Amaro dock, also called Alcântara dock, is a spot to check out for its many restaurants, clubs and bars close to the Tejo.
