In the old days, Cais do Sodré was the entry place of inter-seas commerce, the meeting place of cultures arriving from all over the world. Nowadays, it serves mainly as a passing point across the city, but there's still plenty to be seen. Besides the quay and train station, you'll find restaurants, local stores, a few squares and historic buildings. Following the Tejo upstream get you to the beautiful Ribeira das Naus avenue, a leisury spot to watch the views. Going the other way you'll eventualy find the famous Mercado da Ribeira and vey close by the Dom Luís square, with an ample, cozy garden. Cais do Sodré gains renewed life by night-time. There are plenty of bars and nightclubs with live music for everyone to enjoy. The center of activity then becomes the world-famous Pink Street, which you just can't miss!
