Portas da Cidade

Portas da Cidade might seem just like a small square in the middle of Funchal, but in fact its name comes from the fact that here is where the old entrance to the city was made, and in front of the square you’ll be greeted by the old town archway, being completely rebuilt except for the city emblem on top, that is still preserved from the time of the city’s inception.
