São Vicente is an area of the city of Lisboa that sits between Alfama, closer to the Tejo river, and Graça on the other side. The neigbourhood is constructed almost entirely on a hill, providing for great viewpoints of all the area surrounding it. At it's top you'll find the São Vicente de Fora church, dating from the end of the XVI century, an historic building of impressive size and priviledged location for the views it provides. Close to it sits the National Pantheon, also known as the Santa Engrácia church, were the great names of portuguese history have their tombs. The famous Feira da Ladra, a historic flea market, is held in São Vicente, in the area of Santa Clara, which has a peaceful garden aswell. Going down the nighbourhood and getting closer the river, you can find the Cais da Pedra, where some of the trendyest restaurants and bars of the city are located, like the renowned Lux. Being close to the river, it's a place of both entertainment and tranquility.
