This botanical garden with plenty of walking trails is a relaxing way to enjoy the colourful burst of nature, for all ages.

An 8-minute drive outside of Kamnik is the ethereal blooming gardens of Arboretum Volčji Potok.

There’s a playground for kids, as well as a mini train that takes families around the gardens. Another feature of the botanical gardens that is quite unmissable is the larger-than-life sculptures of animals scattered around. We’re talking large whales and gigantic dinosaur statues.

Throughout the year, Arboretum Volčji Potok has an ongoing rotation of exhibitions for their flowers. For example, in the spring the tulips are in full bloom and on a proud display. The whole botanical garden is meticulously maintained, creating a respectful home to an array of butterflies.

The butterflies are super gorgeous as they fly around you and you’re able to get up so close to them as well! Another favourite is the labyrinthine that you can explore and feel like you’re in an Alice in Wonderland-esque world.
