Expanding 750-metres long through the wonders of smoothed out rocks are the coursing emerald waters of the Great Soča Gorge.
You can reach the Great Soča Gorge by walking from the Soča Trail that is well-marked, indicating when the gorge starts and ends along the river bank. You’ll be walking along the river, visible to you throughout the trail while seeing unique geomorphological structures that have taken place over centuries to form the gorge. Starting off from defining rapids, as you walk above bridges and the trails, you’ll see how parts of the gorge slowly gets calmer.
At the end of the gorge, you’re in for a treat as most people reward themselves with a thrilling dive into the emerald waters. Fair warning ahead of time - even though the day might be hot, the gorges’ water is still chillingly cold! But hey, who can resist such a beauty?
Tips and Tricks
- Go early in the day to avoid the crowds during peak season
- Bring a swimsuit if you want to swim in the gorge at the end of the walk!
