A statement of a cultural sight frozen in time.
As one of the most visited cultural sights in the Soča Valley, the Kluže Fort is a remnant of Slovenia’s history back in the 15th century all the way to World War I.
Originated as a wooden fortress, built to prevent Turkish invasion in the 15th century, the Kluže Fort was eventually transformed into the stone fortification it is now. This later architectural reiteration was used by Austrian soldiers from Napolean’s military in the 18th century.
Today, visiting the Kluže Fort makes for a transportation back in time as the museum recollects its role in World War I, preserving the fortress and the bunkers around it.
