**This popular hiking destination offers stunning views of the Julian Alps and the Soca Valley. **

Go on an adventure to this high mountain pass located in the Julian Alps, at a whopping 2,072 metres above sea level! The Mangart Saddle is known for its breathtaking roads leading up to the summit, which have been called some of the most impressive and breathtaking in all of Europe! There are a lot of adventurous hikes that lead to the fifth-highest mountain top in Slovenia, which is an amazing way to catch some of the best views over the surrounding valleys and mountains.

Mangart Saddle isn’t just impressive for its natural beauty, but it is also incredibly important both historically and culturally. Austro-Hungarian and Italian armies battled around the area, and there are still remaining trenches and fortifications in the area. As well as this historical significance, the saddle is also home to the Mangart Observatory, a research centre that studies planets and stars, and is open to the public for educational purposes.
