**The Plečnik House is the former home of the famous Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, and has now been turned into a museum to educate about the architect's life and projects. **
The Plečnik house was once the home of the well-known Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, and has now been converted into a museum. The houses were built and shared originally between Plečnik and his siblings, and now serve as an interesting, educational visit for architecture lovers.
For those who haven’t heard of the architect, Ljubljana residents compare Plečnik’s impact on Ljubljana to the same of Gaudi’s on Barcelona! He designed Ljubljana’s famous Triple Bridge, the Central Market, and quite a few other important buildings, parks, and plazas in the city. He even did some incredible work outside of Ljubljana, such as the Prague castle, and others in Vienna and Belgrade. His impact on architecture, especially in Slovenia, has been everlasting, so it is a very special experience to see the home in which he began to create the designs for these iconic landmarks.
The house is a complex of two houses with a garden as well and still has all the original furniture and Plečnik’s personal belongings. The house is filled with his sketches, architectural plans, and photographs. Stroll around the museum to get an insight into how the genius architect created his legacy!
