The Mežica Mine was one of the last lead and zinc mines in Europe and had a significant impact on life outside the mine in the entire area of Mežica Valley. Nowadays it is a tourist attraction that preserves the rich natural and cultural heritage of mining. It is possible to book cycling and kayaking tours of the mine and even ride an underground train through the Mežica Mine.
