The beating heart of Ljubljana’s old town.

Stari Trg literally means the Old Square which is fitting for what most consider to be the heart of Ljubljana’s old town. For a city that’s filled with wide-open squares where its residents are free to roam (no cars, no worries!), Stari Trg is one of these picturesque spots.

All around the cobblestone square are storybook-looking shopfronts and quaint passageways leading into courtyards worth discovering. In the middle of the square is the Hercules Fountain where friends, lovers, and family congregate as a meeting point during the summer months.

The beautiful glassy blue Ljubljanica river runs right by it. You can also find a nearby trail that goes up to the Ljubljana Castle from Stari Trg.
