Since Slovenia is such an underrated country for travelling, and Lake Bled is already the most popular destination for a country with low tourism, the nearby Lake Bohinj is an even more of a rarer gem to uncover.
While Lake Bohinj’s waters are less warmer than Lake Bled’s for swimming - the comparison should stop there. Lake Bohinj is beautiful in its own right, set at the foot of the Julian Alps and as a playground for the outdoors.
Here, the Slovenians love to take out their stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, boats, and canoes into the crystal clear waters for lake fun. All around Lake Bohinj are also walking trails where one can retreat into the quiet of nature.
Another sight to see from Lake Bohinj is to the Savica Waterfall (known locally as Slap Savica). Savia Waterfall is the source of water for Lake Bohinj where you can see the running water crusading down the cliffs into the emerald pool below.
