The greenish-blue Tolmin Gorge is wild, and feels untamed, yet so approachable and easy to explore as a national treasure.

One of the many things that Slovenia does so well is spoiling travellers with so many surreal and beautiful natural sights.

Also locally known as the Tolminka and Zadlaščica Gorges, there’s a circular pathway that leads you through a series of fierce gorges on clear stone pathways. The walk is breathtaking for any nature enthusiast - perfect for families, couples or solo travellers.

Be on the lookout for Bear’s head, which is a huge boulder jammed between two canyon walls of the Zadlaščica gorge. There are running streams of water and pools behind it, adding to its agrestal feel. The boulder itself, of course, looks like a bear’s head. You’ll also eventually reach the wooden Devil’s Bridge (seriously, whoever named these places makes my heart aflutter!) which is a view 60 metres deep into the Tolminka gorge swishing below.
