The Ayuntamiento de Pamplona is one of the most stunning historical buildings in the city. It is situated in the middle of Pamplona's three historical boroughs of San Nicolás, San Cernin and Navarrería. These three seperate communites had spent a lot of time fighting and bickering among each other until 1423 when King Carlos III of Navarre decided to unite the three regions on this very spot, creating the city of Pamplona as we know it today. The building has been renovated many times although the carvings and sculptures which can be seen on its facade today were made in the early 1700s. The building nowadays is most famous for kickstarting the San Fermin fiestas each year on July 6th. © Photo: Javitouh
