This shopping centre is named after the well-known neighbouring square of Plaza de Antón Martín. It's one of Madrid's most traditional markets and boasts a wide range of food stalls: bakeries, greengrocers, butchers and poultry suppliers, fishmongers, grocers, and the list goes on. In other words, long-established shops selling fresh products at affordable prices. The range and quality is so good that it's the ideal place to buy typically Spanish gourmet food, such as sausages, cheese and the like. This market, like its fellow municipal complexes, was part of the City Council's integrated restoration and renovation plan for Madrid's markets. The recent refurbishment work on Antón Martín Market was part of this plan to improve facilities and services.
