Lausanne

Switzerland is known for its mountains (Alps in the south, Jura in the northwest) but it also has a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes. Switzerland is renowned over the world for downhill skiing, and the country is also great for many other outdoor activities, including hiking and mountain biking. Mountain climbing, from easy to very hard, can also be found in Switzerland, and there is hardly another place with a longer tradition for this. Some routes, like the North face of the Eiger, have become near-mythical due to the hardships, sacrifice and even deaths suffered by the first people to climb them. And because of the breathtaking views, travelling from one place to another by car, bus, train or bike along alpine roads and railroads is often an experience in itself.

Lausanne is the main city of the canton. The south east of the canton is very mountainous, with highest peak the Diablerets massif. The canton is home to several popular skiing destinations such as the Villars, Les Diablerets and Leysin. There are many places of interest such as the castle of Chillon, the GoldenPass Line, the Olympic museum, the Léman Lake, the cathedral of Lausanne and the Palace of the Rumine, that await every tousist to be explored.

OPERA DE LAUSANNE - A THEATRE IN THE CITY
The Opéra de Lausanne is delighted to welcome you to its renovated theater at the Avenue Theatre 12.
Completely rebuilt between 2010 and 2012, technical and administrative space of the building is equipped with modern facilities for the comfort of artists, but also for the greater public enjoyment. The Lausanne Opera becomes a "Theatre in the city" not only inside the building, thanks to new possibilities of stage equipment, but also from outside, when the evening, the artists come to life in the lodges and home through the illuminated windows of the new building.
