Blaenavon's Heritage Railway is set in the heart of a World Heritage Site on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. There is ample free car and coach parking at Furnace Sidings, by Garn Lakes, our main Station. From here our trains head north to the Whistle Inn and south to Blaenavon High Level Station, which is only a short walk from Blaenavon town centre. In addition, we also operate a short branch to the Big Pit Mining Museum.*
Whether you're looking for a family day out or you are a devoted railway enthusiast, we have something for you.
Enjoy a snack in the tea room at Furnace Sidings or shop in Eric's Emporium, an outpost of The Railway Shop in Blaenavon which stocks a selection of railway models, gifts and souvenirs. Many trains also have a buffet service offering light refreshments, with occasional real ales from the local Rhymney Brewery available.
Trains leave Furnace Sidings every half hour with the four mile round trip taking around 50 minutes. You only pay once to ride all day!
*Blaenavon's Heritage Railway is not associated with Big Pit Mining Museum, which is operated by Amgueddfa Cymru / National Museum Wales. The railway hereby takes no responsibility for the availability of attractions/events at Big Pit.
