Our rich and varied social history collection reflects and celebrates the culture and heritage of Lincolnshire and its people. Exhibits illustrate commercial, domestic, military, agricultural, industrial and community life.
The Museum is home to an authentic World War One tank named “Daphne”, we also house the interactive galleries of the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment.
Our Events and Exhibitions programme has something for all the family, from Victorian living history to Airfix and Mecanno.
The Museum always has a Children’s Museum Trail available to keep younger visitors amused and looking closely at our collection. There are seasonal alternatives at Easter, Christmas and during the Summer Holiday. Please ask at reception when you arrive and staff will be happy to explain how to become a History Hunter!
With so much to see, the Museum is an ideal location for your group to visit and take a trip down memory lane. Self guided visits are free but for a small charge we can arrange a guided tour with one of our knowledgeable staff members or a mystery object quiz session.
We have a number of ’loans boxes’ which can be hired by community organisations or schools and offer the chance to discover and handle object from the past. Themes include WWII civilian and solider, Evacuees, Technology of the Home and Toys.
Our gift shop sells unusual gifts and toys, period postcards and a wide range of heritage books. Collections are made weekly by the Royal Mail from our genuine Victorian Postbox so surprise your friends and family with a card stamped and posted from the Museum.
