Dorchester

United Kingdom

The southern areas like Dorset, Cornwall and Sussex are the best place to visit for beaches, sunshine and beautiful but rugged coastlines. The central area contains London and Birmingham, the two largest cities (10 million and 1 million people respectively) as well as slightly smaller cities like Liverpool and Manchester. These cities (the ones outside of London particularly) are becoming incredibly popular in the last few years, with amazing food, entertainment, art and culture growing year on year. The north of England holds much of the farming land, as well as stunning national parks like the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. London has several airports that are the gateway to almost anywhere you’d like to visit in the world, and there are regional airports in many of the smaller cities as well, with Birmingham Airport and Liverpool Airport being amongst the cheapest. Getting around the country is easy and hassle-free, if slightly more expensive than public transport in mainland Europe. The trains run very well, and are clean, but they are quite expensive. Perhaps the best way to get around is by bus with two main companies – Megabus and National Express. English cuisine is really a mix of everything, with more than 50,000 pubs to find traditional England food, as well as a lot of Indian, Chinese food in almost every town and city as well.

This peacefully winding river makes its way through the outskirts of Dorchester, in Dorset. The river surrounds much of the city, and is a stunning place to walk, with gentle riverbanks and colourful flowers all over.

Oughtonhead is one of the larger fen woodlands in Hertfordshire. For such a small reserve the diversity of habitats is surprisingly large, comprising wet and dry woodland, fen, aquatic and water margin areas. In addition there are several ditches which are important for certain fen species. The reserve is an important habitat for birds such as kingfishers, water rail and woodcock, whilst mammals such as the water shrew may be seen.

An award-winning attraction and a fine example of an English fortification Newhaven Fort is the perfect place for a family day out.  Newhaven Fort houses exhibitions and displays that keep visitors enthralled for hours as well as stunning cliff top views. There is also a on-site café, gift shop, under 12's outdoor adventure playground and free parking. 

Newhaven Fort is open to the public from 1st March - 31st October.  The Fort remains open during the winter for school and group visits.

We have 3 motor boats with diesel inboard engines and 1 long liner with a petrol outboard.

Open and running from April till September - Weather dependent!

All boats to be hired for a minimum of 1 hour and deals can be made if you want a boat for a few hours or the whole day!

A large car park is situated right behind our premises and toilets are near by.

Give the number a ring to book or pop along the back beach to the blue beach hut. There is a sign directly outside so you can't miss it!

The Refectory Cocktail Bar is a unique and vibrant lounge situated within this historic distillery. The Refectory building is Grade II* listed and dates back some 500 years.
