Dating back to the 16th Century this hostelry was the former home of the celebrated poet Henry Vaughan. This enchanting and elegant Country House captures the charm of yesteryear, whilst providing all the modern amenities which discerning travellers now demand. The 24 En-suite rooms offer luxurious accommodation with a mixture of family and suite rooms enabling the perfect environment in which to unwind. Take time out to enjoy the views from the comfort of our AA Rosette Awarded conservatory restaurant, with crisp white linen and soft lighting, providing a stylish and tranquil dinning experience. Chef Patron Shaun Ellis is renowned for the excellence of his culinary delights and is devoted to sourcing the finest quality, seasonal, local produce and creating menus which offer robustly flavoured but elegantly presented food. Popular dishes include Homemade Chicken Liver Parfait, Confit of Welsh Lamb served with Red Cabbage, Posh Fish & Chips (fillets of sole in Tempura Batter) and for dessert our famous Homemade Liquorice Ice Cream. The specials board constantly changes to reflect seasonal variations and the catch of the day.
The bar offers the perfect place to indulge in relaxation, where the atmosphere is informal and friendly, with comfy seating and an extensive range of beers, wines and spirits which will surely revive the weariest of souls. Afternoon tea may be taken on the front lawn where guests can linger and enjoy the verdant views. Our Par 3, 9 hole Golf Course provides uninterrupted views across some of the finest scenery in Wales, whilst walkers and cyclists amongst you can easily access the Monmouthshire and Breconshire Canal. Stargazers will be delighted to know that the surrounding area has recently been awarded Dark Sky Reserve Status. The Rectory Banquet Suite will cater for 120 guests and our marquee 400 guests making us an ideal venue for weddings including civil ceremonies; conferences or private functions and our dedicated, attentive and friendly staff on hand to ensure we exceed your expectations.
