4 Towns Not to Miss in Apulia

Peaceful fishing villages, dreamy white stone streets and a wonderful seaside. The towns of  Apulia **are worth getting lost in. From the unique world-heritage Trulli houses to the city of the white coastal houses, Apulia has a diverse and appealing architecture. While every town in the heel of Italy’s boot has its own magic, there are 4 amazingly beautiful and quite small towns,** that you should definitely include in your trip – don’t just stop in Bari, there are more to be explored! 😊   

1. Trani

Trani is located north of Bari and is part of the movement of "slow cities” (in Italian: Citta slow). The goal is to preserve their own culture, stores and city facade by avoiding the standardisation caused by franchise companies. This commitment is definitely visible while walking through the town. During daytime, it seems like "time  stands still" in the historical center of Tr[ani](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/a-stroll-in-trani-between-a-lively-port-and-ancient-history-u8kt). Restaurants and bars are mainly closed and the locals are having their pennichella (afternoon nap). During the evening, especially on weekends, the town reveals its completely different side:  busy street life, vivid and hip bars, live concerts and spectacular events, all happening on the picturesque port of Tr[ani.](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/a-stroll-in-trani-between-a-lively-port-and-ancient-history-u8kt) 

2. Alberobello

The tr[ulli town](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/alberobello-the-trulliland-20dm) is already quite touristic and well known, especially on a national level. The unique, cozy houses were used multiple times as movie sets and are often the picture of Apulia's travel guides. Al[berobello](https://www.livetheworld.com/post/alberobello-the-trulliland-20dm) is part of the UNESCO world heritage and it is so much fun to get lost in its trulli maze. Even though it is not located on the sea and at about 50- minutes drive from Bari, you should definitely make the effort to visit this town. 

3. Polignano a mare

Polignano a mare has without a doubt one of the most impressive sceneries in Apulia. The white costal houses in the picturesque bay with its clear blue water are just stunningly beautiful. Next to wonderful views, the costal town is famous for the annual finale of the Red Bull Cliff Diving **and the social-media famous cave restaurant Grotta Palazzese.**

4. Monopoli

The little port town is just a 10-minute car drive from Polignano a mare. The old port and clean city beach make Monopoli truly special. The town is often left out when it comes to planning trips in Apulia, but for me it's one of the most beautiful destinations in the entire region.
