If you are lucky enough to walk along the streets of Athens, and suddenly an uproar comes to you, If loud ''pame, pame!'' comes to your ears, just follow! ''Pame'', that stands for ''Come on!'', or ''gliko'' for sweet is most common shouts that increase the euphoria during open markets in Athens. And there, o dear, you can find everything that Mother Earth can give!

In Athens, there are two types of open markets. One type is ones recognized by google maps or placed in one object or constant place. This type is open 6 days a week. There are fresh markets of this type, where you can buy meat, fruits, vegetables, cheese, fish, spices...Flea markets- for second-hand goods and you can find absolutely everything! Small and big objects you need, especially the ones you don't!

The second type of markets you can really enjoy in Athens is a little bit more exclusive. Not in a way of rare or expensive goods you can buy there, but in a way of you knowing the info that they are happening. So they are like events, like private parties.

They are happening ones per week on several streets around Athens, and you will need few weeks of living here so you can find them around. And when you do, just enjoy. Be sure that you have enough space in your backpack because it is hard to resist to buy some of this, some of that. And this and that, my friend, is sweet and tasty whatever it is. It goes like this: with common agreement sellers are occupying a certain length of the street (sometimes even 1km) and for one morning is transformed into an open market.

Wind by that enormous amount of fruits and vegetables, and enjoy the unique energy that sellers have- in one moment you are sure that you have the world in your hands just by holding a pomegranate! This is how Athens got me for a lifetime!
