Best Nature Spots in Sicily

If it is about nature, Sicily is surely a spot not to miss. Known for its magical temples and stunning towns and villages, Sicily offers beautiful spots immerse in nature that will make you want to move there! The sea is green and blue, the water crystalline, the mountains offer the typical Mediterranean vegetation and the Etna is just magical.... and I am not even talking about the many small islands around it!

Here is a collection of my favorite natural reserves spread through Sicily. These are the ones I never miss when I am there and even if I do not have the time... well I just make time for them as they are stunning!

The Sea

Whether you want to be alone in nature with just the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore or you like a less remote beach with facilities and people, these spots will not disappoint you. The water is so clear and the landscapes so nice that it will be difficult to leave when it is time to go home!

The Mountains

Sicily offers many mountains too and the stunning Mediterranean landscapes and vegetation will take your breath away! Make sure to wear a hat and sun block as the sun is very strong (especially in summer) and to take with you plenty of fluids (as in some reserves, there is no restoration point). And Sicily also offers a pretty unique place where you will feel like you are on the moon: the Etna. Have you never been on a Volcano? Well, time to do so (and remember to pack warm clothes as it is very cold up there!).

Rivers

Especially in the Sicily's center (mostly known for its ceramic caves and laboratories), you will be able to find nice and refreshing rivers. They are all in the mountains, so it might take a while for you to hike there, but it will not disappoint you! And if you want to get away from the tourists, well, the heart of the island is the place to go!
