Castelldefels, an ideal place to escape Barcelona

As I've said many times before, I am a summer person and I belong in the sun and in nature. I am quite ready for the heat already, and I'm just thinking about my next summer trip, which is making me remember one of my last summer trips in Barcelona in which I had so much fun and went to so many cool places. If you like summer and the Mediterranean coast and culture in Spain, keep reading because I am about to tell you about a beautiful beach town, that is very close to the amazing but hectic city of Barcelona.

Barcelona is a incredible city that offers so many things to its people. It is full of life, art, beauty and energy but sometimes it can feel a bit stressful - since it is the second most populated city of Spain and considered one of the world's major global cities, attracting many many tourists every year. That is the reason why I think that if you go to Barcelona, you should also check places outside the city to avoid the hustle and bustle. In this way you can also avoid the very busy beach of Barcelona, La Barceloneta, and find quieter and cleaner beaches. A colleague has written about some of these beaches close to Barcelona(https://www.livetheworld.com/post/A colleague has written) in an overview of the area, and read on to read all about my favorite of these beaches.

Castelldefels

After a crazy night out in Barcelona with my friends, going to Castelldefels was probably the best decision we could have made. We took a 30 minute train in the morning because we were looking for a less hectic and cleaner beach than the one in the city of Barcelona. Castelldefels is located about 20 km southwest of Barcelona and it is famous for its long beach, which is more than 5 km, and because it has been the place of residence of several famous football players.

Castelldefels beach has bars, sunbeds, sports facilities, sailing schools and nautical activities. It's equipped with showers, litter bins, wooden walkways to access the sand, lookout posts and seats, sanitary cubicles, as well as a free wifi service on the beach. It is the perfect spot to soak up some sun, swim in clean water, walk along a long golden beach, and enjoy the views to the green mountains. The sunset at this beach is amazing too and it is not usually super busy since you have plenty of space!

Although one of the best parts about this location is the remoteness and the lack of tourists, that shouldn’t make you think that Castelldefels only has that going for it. The beach itself really is beautiful, and the lack of built-up services only increases that beauty. There isn’t all of the modern conveniences that we have come to expect from beaches, but it’s a rawer and more stripped back version, and I love it. The water here is another real pull, as it’s beautifully warm, blue and clear.

I can't wait for summer to go back to discover more of these kinds of places! It's a shame that many people who come here don't get to see some of the best places. I think it's always good advice when you visit a place, to think about seeing the less popular spots. It's not always true that the busiest restaurant is the best one...
